Working Together to Ensure Everyone Eats

We are excited to share with you what Vungle, one of our favorite San Francisco corporate food-donor partners, is doing with us here at Replate. We hope this inspires you to also do good during these challenging times.

As you know, nearly half a million people work in San Francisco Bay Area restaurants, stores, and venues that were required to shut down or drastically scale back operations to curb the spread of COVID-19, according to a Chronicle review of federal data released by the Associated Press. What you may not have realized is that thousands of Bay Area residents ranging from hungry students to homebound seniors are unsure of where they will get future meals from during this evolving crisis. Some nonprofits have been entirely unable to maintain their operations.

Last week, we joined a conference call with Stephanie Douglass, VP of HR at Vungle.

We discussed the impact of nationwide office closures and the shelter-in-place mandate across California. After sharing with her that our source of surplus food has all but dried up, Stephanie’s response was immediate and heartfelt: “We love our local restaurants. They have taken good care of our teams, bringing us healthy and delicious food. We know that many small local businesses are struggling to stay afloat. And we also know there are various people that may not have access to food or technology for meal services while sheltering in place. We have launched a Vungle initiative, #VungleCares, where we as a team support our communities by finding ways to help. To help alleviate the food crisis, we will continue with our food orders as we have for the last three and a half years, but one hundred percent of the meals will be donated to community members in need.”

We at Replate were thrilled to hear this, we are still actively delivering the meals donated from Vungle and others to our community partners. Our Food Rescuers have adapted to contactless pickups that keep both themselves and meal recipients safe. We continue to monitor and adjust our processes according to official guidance.

Now for the pitch! Replate would like you to follow Vungle’s generous lead by supporting local restaurants and vulnerable members in your community. You can participate in three easy steps!

1. Sign up to be a food donor.

2. Order directly from your favorite restaurants.

3. Set a pickup with Replate.

There is so much that we can all do right now to support others in our community. Signing up with Replate in this way allows you to have three powerful impacts: you’re keeping our food rescuers wages intact, you’re supporting local restaurants, and you’re providing meals for the most vulnerable among us.

Please feel free to reach out to our Replate Support Team from any page on our website if you’d like help getting started.
