Replate Receives a Big Honor from Toast!

What does it feel like to be ‘toast’ of the town?

Well, thanks to Toast, we can tell you! Replate was selected as a recipient of one of Toast.org’s annual impact grants, awarded to “nonprofits striving to enrich the food experience for all, and address critical sustainability issues in the food ecosystem.”

As part of Toast’s annual Earth Month celebration, employees selected organizations in over 30 cities around the world focused on regenerative agriculture, sustainable consumption and diet, sustainable packaging, and reducing food waste. This round of grants specifically aimed to support organizations working to address the climate crisis and promote a healthy environment.

Replate was chosen for our work in food recovery, along with our mission to change the narrative around how businesses manage and view food surplus. Toast.org Impact Grants are intended to catalyze systems change in the food system.

“In the United States, an estimated 35% of food is wasted while more than 38 million people are food insecure,” our CEO Maen Mahfoud said. “That waste rots in landfills, contributing to climate change and squandering our resources. This is an absurd problem that we at Replate are working to mitigate. We are grateful for the support from Toast.org that will help us build additional capabilities for our food service customers to donate and track excess food, meanwhile helping to address food insecurity in communities across the country.”

With this grant, Replate will be able to build stronger strategic partnerships across the U.S., working with more companies to integrate sustainable practices into their operations, and extending our relationships with food rescue organizations to create a more cohesive, expansive infrastructure for food recovery.

Thank you, Toast! Your generosity will go far with Replate!
